20" vs 24" barrel

I am building a Grendel and have one of the 24" barrels from Brownells. I live in NY so the threads have to go. I am thinking of cutting the barrel down to 20". I am limited to 200 yd shooting here on Long Island. Any reason I should leave it at the 24" length? 20" vs 24" shouldn't matter at 200 yds putting holes in paper? Any impact to the gas system (rifle) going from 24 to 20?

Ken, that should not be an issue If it has the rifle length gas system.

Rifle length gas systems start at 20", 200 yrds aint nothing for either size barrel on a Grendel. BANG BANG!!

If you wanted to keep it 24" you could pin weld a thread protector on.
