I don't mean to sound like a broken record.... And I am in Texas, not New York... But i don't give a flying fuck what kind "executive order" that asshole signs into "law"!!!! guys i too think it WILL come to a show down. I'm too old, too out of shape and too tired but I sure will be cheering them on. Just remember it's not ATF, FBI or Troopers that caused this problems it IS the liberal representatives. They are either our friend or our foe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know it's easier said than done, but I would seriously look at every available option for moving my ass out of NY if I lived there. CA and IL are others I would flee from, and fast!

the assembly votes this morning witch is all democrats.
no more assault weapons, current firearms grandfathered BUT NEVER ALLOWED TO BE TRANSFERRED, 7 round mag max and renew our pistol permits every five years, I'm sure at a huge cost.

Why won't Remeniton or others leave and go to a more friendly state? Simple: Federal laws against it. The interstate transfer of firearms making machinery is forbidden. That's why places Springfiled Armory, S&W & Kahr are still locate in a state where you can't buy 2 of the 3...

What cockamamy law is that??? Tell them to come to Alabama or anywhere in the south for that matter. Let them know they'll have a well regulated militia protecting them from any branch of the government attempting to enforce that garbage!

I don't know about that, sig moved from Virginia to New Hampshire in 1990 an the vast majority of firearms tooling is simply precision machining equipment such as lathes and mils the only thing gun specific your likely to find is the barrel making equipment and the tools that make the frame and receivers are just CNC machines that you can order from any distributor and have delivered to any state in the union the process of making guns is not all that differt from making anything else think back to WW2 if you look at the surplus arms you can find m1 carbines made by IBM, national postal meter, Saginaw gear, quality hardware, the gm headlight plant produced the liberator pistol, singer sowing maching made a few 1911s though they are extremely rare they only made a trial run
The reason the companies don mov is it doesn't effect them the laws don't effect their production an moving would bew a big hassle and the states don't want to loose the jobs or tax revenue so the stay
This came straight from Springfield Arms. I'm sure that if I weren't feeling like total dogsh#t I could find the statute somewhere. As for Sig, that was 23 years ago. I have no clue when the laws were made. S&W and Springfield still use some of the same machinery that they did 100 years ago for thier revolvers. Not just cnc machines

FN closed Winchester and moved production to SC didn't they? I know they already had operations in SC before the closure, but isn't that essentially what they did? I'm no authority on the subject though. That was just what I thought they did. I forget.
I don't recall ever hearing anything as odd as a law forbidding a firearms company from relocating.

Les Baer moved from Illinois to Iowa a couple years ago. FN moved Winchester to Columbia, SC. Para moved from Canada to North Carolina.
Naw, its simply a financial issue. If it doesn't affect their pocket books directly, publicly owned companies don't move for ethical or moral reasons, or to make a statement. Their shareholders would scream at the cost and loss of profit and revenue to make those kinds of moves. Those companies have been able to stay there and be perfectly happy, because they have been given tax breaks and incentives by the states to stay. At this point, though, some of them will be rethinking it.
That 7 round limit affects lots of handguns, including all the Kimbers. It affects all the Ruger .22's, even M1A's have 8 round internal mags. That number was a very conscious effort to get rid of lots of the guns that they wanted to get rid of!

It passed and the Gov signed it just a bit ago. We'll see how this all shakes out.
I watched the Assembly live today and the bill sponsor made it clear we can keep 10 round mags but only use 7 rounds in each. Now that's stupid right there but I can keep my 10 rounders anyway.

@ericv I hate it for you my man. Not to rain on you further but im afraid its a step in the direction of registration then confiscation of ALL guns. Perhaps for us all. Dont these fools realize their actions prompt the words of Shakespear in every heart of American who still believes in the Constitution. "Cry havoc and turn loose the dogs of war!" To those in Congress dont let this happen, God help us all.

It may have gotten through the legislature but I doubt it would ever stand in the courts.

DH, don't give in to the media driven paranoia! Most all gun crimes in NYC-are w/ handguns-revolvers rarely jam-cheap and plentiful=sat.nite specials. So many people there-you'd get noticed and beat down hard!,-if you ran around w/ an AR in hand! plus-acting all crazy and stuff-calm down.. maybe coumo will- fade away..... if we all apply enuff pressure. Get after the rat, join every nra type group that you can afford to.Constantly keep after the elected officials-never quit. Do what you can-quietly, safe-legal-never get arrested for anything related, or anything -otherwise. Straight and narrow-focus, draw a many in-teach themencourage them to the range-proper safety routines, techniques-etc. Be a mentor.
