how much will a gun bring in scrap?

Get the H3 and the tubbs carrier weights, a stiffer spring may make things worse. The H2 is probably not going to be heavy enough.

okay so how heavy is heavy enough, i am finding some companies h2 is another h3 almost?


really only on i can find is a colt H3 on midway says it weighs 5.4 oz.... i went to leapers website to find the utg stock i bought and the buffer it came with is supposed to be only 3.2oz then i can find other s that weigh even more...just order the colt one from midway? and what about an ejector from AA...or wait to see what the buffer does?

somewhere around 5.2 oz should do it fine. The 5.4 will work. think I would see what the buffer does.

You want a 5.4oz buffer. The heavier buffer will reduce felt recoil, by slowing the cycling action of the BCG, also correcting the timing of the bolt opening sequence, and allowing the pressure in the chamber to drop before the bolt removes the cartridge from the chamber.

oh well heck...okay so i have an h3 buffer on the way be here friday...I called the shop...http://www.jsesurplus.com who sold me the rifle here locally in their retail side...the guy that "runs" the retail side told me to just fill my current buffer with lead #7 birdshot RATHER THAN ORDER AN H3 LIKE I ASKED...and then we talked about the carrier, i have an ar15 advanced and told him i wanted an m16 and i would give him this one that makes my gun run like crap....and i would pay any difference....he told me i woould pay full price and couldnt "return": the one that has less than 100 rounds on it since they donttake back "used" merch.....ohhhhhhhh boy, im really trying not to use words thall get me kicked of this forum but what the holy crap donkey basketballs.....!!!!!!!!! really? really? so any way called another place here close by and i have an H3 on the way and well go from there as you gentlemen said, just thought i would pass the news, would love to spread the good word about this shop also

Heard that boss. I'll never buy nor recomend there again. It's a shame too. No where local to buy from. I did order the buffer from a local hardware store that deals in guns too. It'll be here Friday. Will report back after the weekend. On another note unrelated. Got my rcbs chargemaster combo in yesterday. Can't wait till roofing season slows down so I can reload for this thing!

Does anyone know if JSE Surplus is sourcing these barrels/uppers from someone else? I'm not a huge fan of the CLGS with a 16" in the 5.56 even, unless I can counter it with a heavier buffer.

If what you say is correct, that is not ideal customer service. If the gun is blowing primers with factory ammo, something ain't right. Let us know how the buffer works out.

I wanted an eighteen inch but he had that sixteen upper there and me not researching enough got me into this. I love the gun. Not a match piece but I ain't a match shooter. Just want it to operate right and they won't make their product right without me paying full price for other parts and no help on what parts I have that are no good. The barrel its DSG. All I know. Hope it ain't the worst. But again. No better shot than I am. At three hundred I can kill a tennis ball. That makes me happy

Double Star and J & T Distributing use 6.5 Grendel bolt and chamber so technically they are 6.5 Grendel just not sold by Alexander Arms. I've read DSC and J & T use Shaw barrels, all I know is I like my J & T and considering buying a second.

It is Friday and so far my week has been crap.

I do not know what you have or why it misbehaves but there is nothing in an AR that is that problematic.

Call the shop. Tell them who you are and that you have a problem with a Grendel. Get the gun in to us and for the cost of the parts and time I will fix the stupid thing!

I think what my problem its that a gun shop here should've researched the caliber a bit more before they built my gun. Told me it was warranted. But now they won't stand behinds it

Brandon: The shop Bill A. is talking about is Alexander Arms and Bill Alexander is the inventor of the 6.5 Grendel round.

I think what he is saying is to call AA and let them know you are having a problem with a Grendel rifle even if it wasn't bought from from them.
Then ship them( Alexander Arms) the rifle and AA will fix it " for the cost of the parts and time ".

Bill A. is the man himself when it comes to the Grendel( and the Beowulf for that matter) and that's how straight-up of a person he is to work on someone elses mistake.

Brandon, You have certainly hit the nail on the head! I Don't know why your rifle was not test fired before it was put on the shelf for sale, or at least test fired a rifle in the exact configuration that your rifle was received in. I am no armorer, but it seems to me that using a light weight buffer in a larger/ heavier caliber is not a good combination.

I have looked at the JSE surplus website and they have a few rifles for sale that they call "GUN SMITH SPECIALS" with some problem or other. If this rifle was assembled by their in-house armorer or assembler he should have known that a standard weight buffer and a Carbine Length Gas System just don't jive. Even in a 5.56 this combo can cause issues in FTF's, the very reason Colt began experimenting heavier buffers long ago.

Oh cool. Thanks Mr Alexander. I'm waiting on a heavier buffer. Should be here Monday. We'll see what happens. I've got my brothers barrel from liberty gonna be here tomorrow. Will not be letting them put it together. Probably going to have lots of questions. Thanks for all your support on here guys !!!
