BB:

It isn't the ammo. It is something with the rifle.

Once again, what have you changed in terms of the rifle since your previous posts about blown primers?

Sometimes feeding problems are due to the very poor quality of the currently available Grendel magazines. Sometimes it is due to the buffer. Sometimes a guy refuses to lube an AR generously and this causes problems in feeding and extraction. Sometimes it is because the extractor needs to have its edges smoothed out. Or the ejector needs one coil cut from the spring; or a stronger spring is needed. Sometimes it is because the gas system is faulty. Blown or missing gas rings; gas block somewhat off center; gas port too big or too small; gas tube bent or ruptured; too long or too short a gas tube; adjustable gas block not adjusted properly and some others I can't remember.

So, state what you did since your other thread and let the guys give their advice.

the only change i made was cleaned the heck out8of it and lubed it down since the first few rounds with it u didn't do those things . i was hoping the issue was do to buildup abs causing primers to blow . i will get pics up tonight. i have a feeling but not sure that the only thing grendel specific i.have is a barrel and bolt I'm not sure . the gun shoots accurate and the Wolf stuff had no trouble feeding and ejecting yesterday. but the hornady .was a different story .that confuses me why two brands act difernt in thus aspect

Not knowing full details, and assuming it's not simply a feeding issue, you might consider checking headspace (make sure the bolt is appropriately matched to the barrel). Also, and again not knowing details, I wonder if your system is overgassed, which can cause one to chase all the wrong rabbits trying to get things right. Just throwing a couple of things out there...

what things do you need to know .i don't have tools to measure much .not here at home any how . how do you change gas .i don't think mine is adjustable

The only thing Grendel specific about a Grendel is the bolt and barrel. Well, the magazines too. Everything else is stock AR-15 I believe.

Lets see the pictures although I doubt they will prove anything.

When you take the pictures, try to get a close up from the rim to about half way down the brass.

looks like a 16", non adjustable gas block. probably a standard carbine buffer, and I believe an enhanced AR 15 carrier. If so, you probably need to start with an adjustable gas block and H2 buffer and see if that helps. After that an m16 bolt carrier. Maybe some of the other guys will chime in and verify or correct me.

What direction do the spent cases eject (using a clock as reference, with 12:00 being the muzzle and 6:00 being the stock)?

With an 18" barrel, mid-length gas system, or 16" carbine-length gas system, AR15 carrier, and lightweight buffer, you will have a very fast cyclic rate because of several reasons:

1) Increased dwell time of the 18" MLGS or 16" CLGS (I can't tell which one you have.)

2) Reduced weight & resistance of the shaved AR15 carrier

3) Reduced weight and resistance of the carbine buffer, if it's a 2.9 oz. common one

Add 120gr or 123gr ammo, and you have a recipe for fast cycling, feeding problems, too much gas with too little mass to resist it.

I would get an M16 carrier, an H3 buffer, and see what happens. If that doesn't help, move on to an adjustable gas block to tame that gas down.

He has a 16" brl. CLGS, The rifle was purchased from JSE.

I'm with the others that are leaning toward the over-gassed system. Are the feeding issues only happening with a full mag? Or does it seem to be hit and miss regardless of what the mag round count is?

First thing to get as LRRPF52 has suggested is an H3 buffer, if the problems persist get the M16 Bolt Carrier or adjustable gas block, the Carrier is easier to install but it will cost you a little bit more money, The adjustable gas block will allow ultimate control over the gas system, but can be a bit of a bear to remove if locktight was used in its assembly.

hmm okay thanks. now is this something youd expect a shop who built this new should handle .or would you just but parts else where and cut losses with them ??

i figger I'll alert him to this trouble today but last will i told him about blowing primers and replied it's just a hot load .that'll happen. grrrr . as far as mag .seems to me didn't matter .but why the horbady and the Wolf no trouble. difference in oopmf?

should i buy a certain brand buffer? or just any h3?

Any brand buffer will do.

The Tubbs carrier weight system is also an option. It gives you some adjustability to tune your rifle if you change loads.

BB:

That is a BS response from the folks who made your AR-15.

Do they know that you blew primers with factory loads?

What is the name of this place?

JSE surplus big online place and just happen to be here in town have a retail side....i though the same thing oh hell yeah he knows the loads were factory i am going to go there tomorrow and see what they do for me on the h2 buffer and spring...if it isn't what i think it should be then ill know where not to buy stuff...we shall see tomorrow but i think they'll charge me for it and i think i should be able to give them the old buffer since the 1000 dollar rig i bough there doesn't function right anyway del will see...what are your thoughts on the m16 carrier? I've looked at the pretty boron ones,.....waste of money really?
