Best guess 123gr ELDM - 30.1gr LVR

Loaded up 10x of 29.5, 29.8 and 30.1gr of LVR to push the 123gr eldm pill at unknown speeds. Will be hitting range tomorrow morning and will post results but what is your best guess at velocity?

Here is the setup to guess

123gr eldm, 30.1gr LVR
CcI 41 primer
Lapua brass, fired and annealed after resize
Light crimp
28" barrel

Closest to actual gets a solid golf clap. Measurement will be from magnetospeed

I can tell you 2521 was exceeded with 28.5gr of lvr.

I got these velocities using a Magnettospeed chronograph on a 70 degree day with CFE223 which is very similar to LeverRevolution.

I’d estimate 2615 FPS from a 28” barrel.

Based on Vascar's info and my experience with my 28" barreled Creedmoor, I'd say more like 2700 FPS. That "extra" barrel length makes a much bigger difference than I expected, pretty much all the loads I've done in my Creedmoor run ~100 FPS faster than book data. Later.

30.1gr LVR under 123gr ELD-M will be somewhere around 2553fps from the 28”, and is a light load.

Here’s my data from a 22” barrel under 123gr SST with LEVERevolution:

Had that been a 28”, the velocities would have been much higher.

31.6 LVR under a 123gr from a 28” pipe should be around/over 2700fps.

At 30.1gr, you’ll be in the 2650fps region.

31.6 will put you into 2750fps territory.

You got the extended length gas system, right?

Yes sir and no adjustable gas block because it wouldn't fit without touching the handguard. I'll switch to the gas key adjustable one per your recommendation to others if it's warranted but initial testing says it's not. I can play with buffer weights and springs already if anything seems off so will try that first if anything is seen once I start pushing appropriate charge weights. I'm ramping up, not going full blast out of the gate.

Average was 2600, 50F ammo temp.



I will say... need all of the gas with a +2. Even switched to a lighter spring (the white spring for the jp nerds) at the range to get bolt to lock back reliably.

I have tested up to 31.4 and reached 2691fps average. I believe there is another .5gr or so left in it to test out before i feel things start getting iffy. Only about 60 rounds down the pipe so it may pick up a little speed with wear.

Can't predict the weather sorry. Waiting on brass to dry then loading up to about 31.8

Any new guesses? Temps will be between 45 and 60f (9am to noon) according to the internets. Need to start playing with the norma grx 130gr so ill have other loads going at same time. If can get these 123s to 2750 with good accuracy and sd at 80f, I'm right in the target zone I want to be.
