An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen.

The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, "Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great... I would recommend it very highly."

The other man said, "What is the name of the restaurant?"

The first man looked puzzled. He thought and thought and finally said, "What's the name of that flower you give to someone you love? You know... The one that's red and has thorns."

"Do you mean a rose?"

"Yes, that's the one," replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, "Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?"

Dear Anti-gun Activist and Journalist,
Let me try to be kind and clue you in about how stupid you often
appear when writing or speaking about things firearms-related. You can be truly cringeworthy. If you carelessly left home forgetting to put pants on, a kind person would tip you off to allow you to avoid so embarrassing yourself and others. Let me be that helpful person concerning your embarrassing rhetoric about guns.
I recently read a news report that contained mention of a ".45mm"
handgun. Anyone with the least knowledge about firearms will read that and blush in embarrassment for the demonstrated stupidity of the writer, and of the writer's editor. For anyone also ignorant about metric conversions, a ".45mm" handgun would have a bore diameter of less than 1/50th of one inch, somewhat larger in diameter than a human hair but definitely smaller than the non-wood part of a #2 pencil that marks the paper.
Ditto with use of such made up terms as "assault weapon," "high
capacity magazine," and "gun violence." You would never refer to a
suicide by hanging as "rope violence," but you commonly refer to
suicides by firearms as "gun violence." When you use such terms so incorrectly, all of your audience except those similarly ignorant will immediately dismiss you as an embarrassing dolt. While others who are also ignorant may not notice or may even approve, most of your audience will blush for you, just as if you'd walked out the door with no pants on.
To avoid this embarrassment so far unnoticed by you, you should avoid writing or talking about firearms until you have taken a firearms course to learn something about the subject. Then maybe you won't immediately impress so many informed others as being so stupid.
Right, you just didn't know. Think of this advice as your real friend
saying, "Go put some pants on." Non-friends will just snicker and
point out your bare behind to others.
