Does anyone make AR magazine conversions for Howa Mini?

Not that I’ve ever read. I’ve read you can use some stocks that use AICS mags but there haven’t been many threads on their use.


Most forum members who want a bolt action which use AR-15 magazines buy the Ruger in 6.5 Grendel.

I set out to design a bottom metal that used AR15 magazines but quickly discovered that the magazine is too wide
to fit up into the action high enough to feed.

There is a company in Australia that makes one but you have to send your rifle in for modification to allow the magazines to fit in place.

what HPK said. if you take the howa barreled action out of the stock and flip it over, and then hold up an AR magazine to the action, you'll see that the magazine is wider than the opening in the action on the bottom. so you'd have to get the action milled out to accept the AR mag. i suspect this is what the company in Australia is doing.

I have a very talented machinest that could figure it out pretty easy, would just need the other bits i suspect. Lots to love about the howa but equally so for hate on the magazine system.

The AR mag will limit your OAL but I know they are plentiful and cheap verses the Howa Grendel magazines which are sometimes scarce and always mucho dinero!
There is only one thing more scarce and priceless!

Amend2 Polymer 6.5 Grendel magazines!!! Estimated to ship within 6-10 months.....or years...........decades?

All howa mini after factory stocks use the stock magazine for grendel.

Its center feed and most AR magazines are double stacked, so unless you modify the feed ramp, you cant use double stack magazines.
