This made me smile just a little!

Look at it this way. In the end, we’re both spending the exact same amount. I’ve just decided that I’m not going to wait until the Chargemaster “gives up the ghost”. The upside is, I still get the benefit of using both, right now! And.......... I’m not “out” the value of the Chargemaster just because I’ve purchased another scale.

While you and A5 Blaster have apparently decided, you’d rather postpone the benefit of using an upgrade, and for god knows how long.

To each their own. I personally prefer to wait until the current model fails before replacing; since consumer grade electronics tend to get cheaper and better the longer you wait.

Maybe I stuck in thinking older is better but seems faster to use a mechanical, especially after reading all this :p. I throw charges slightly under and trickle the rest. I have an old iPad I use as a large magnifying glass to make things easy. Sure I’d like a perfect digital but I don’t have the budget or still probably wouldn’t trust it as much as a mechanical

I have a good gun club acquaintance who uses an RCBS M500 mechanical scale. He does something similar to what you do. Instead of an iPad he uses a mini camera and a computer monitor. He’s been doing it for quite a while. I’ve watched him he’s very quick at it and his loads are accurate. He does pretty well at matches.
Everyone has their own preferences on their methods and equipment. And as long as it works for you,that’s all that matters. I’m going to stick up my charge master until it burns out because that’s what works well for me right now.

And the money someone hopes to save by waiting, because there’s no guarantee that it’s going to be cheaper in the future, is the premium I’m willing to pay for getting to use and enjoy the unit right now. There is also an imputed value in not postponing that gratification while using the unit during the period where others sit it out on the sidelines.

I can see both side, and for me, it’s a no brainer. YMMV.

Guys, this isn't just another page to compare length on. We take this stuff seriously. Not to the point of ridiculous, but seriously in a gentlemanly way. The instigator of the snipes has been reprimanded, lets let it end there. There isn't only one way to skin a cat, and we aren't on a board where argument for fun at the expense of someone's dignity is commonplace. Let's keep it that way.

I've found the Satterlee Method of limited utility. On new load combinations I usually do a pressure ladder (Satterlee Method) and then five shot ladders to find nodes. Run the Satterlee ladder three times and look at the results, they will often be completely different from a node perspective. On the other hand, the Satterlee Method (pressure ladder) does generally show you where your rifle's pressure ceiling is (not the 6.5 Grendel). Once I have a pressure ceiling I like to shoot groups on poster board in a single row so I can see the rise and fall of the groups in a linear representation (sine wave).
