You can load pistol caliber on a single stage press, it is just a little longer process. That and with pistol your generally going for quantity leads one to get a progressive setup.
This is another + for the hornady LnL system on a single stage press

Yes, this has morphed into reloading thread, but I am very much thankful for all the info.

BTW, I just posted my upper with the Monster Group Barrel for sale. I'll use the money I bring in for that to get my initial reloading equipment installment. I still want to keep making the uppers, but hopefully the cost for the ammo will be cheaper and the groups tighter!

I'm officially a reloader! I decided to go with the Lee Classic Turret Kit. It is really easy and efficient and economical compared to other options. I added to the kit a decent caliper, the Lee case trimming tool and some Lee dies.



I started with 9mm with a pack of very cheap 9mm bullets. This seemed like a nice way to work up my skills before going to the rifle rounds while providing me with a supply of economical pistol rounds to improve my pistol shooting skills. I'm able to really crank these rounds out on the turret press. I had a chance to shoot my first lot, and they all went bang (except two with primers that may have be contaminated by my dropping and touching) and not BOOM.

Now it's time to move to the Grendel rounds. I bought some IMR 8208 XBR powder yesterday with some ELD Match 123gr bullets. Does anyone have good load data they would recommend? (Best guess now is to go from 26 to 28.5 gr, COAL 2.250). I'll move over to the Reloading Posts section to learn more.

IMO good choice.
I have reloaded grendel, blackout, 243, 270, 7.62x39 and 6.5 creedmoor on my classic turret.
I keep the 5 stag progressive for 9mm, 40 s&w and 223.

I do have to say, you learn a heck of a lot more about shooting when you reload. Watched many videos and know so much more now. Still learning though...

Been around reloading since I was a kid over 40 years ago. I helped my dad and my uncle. Been loading for my rifles since the 80s. And guess what? I’m still learning. Always remember take your time, don’t guess and ask lots of questions.

Well, I can't say how thankful I am that all of you talked me into reloading. It really is a blast and look at the results of my first outing with my Grendel rounds.





I had some decent groups with other charges, but those around the sweet spot of 28.5 did the trick.

I was using IBR 8208 XBR with Hornady ELD Match 123gr and brass from previously shot Hornady American Gunner bulk ammo.

This was my first go round just to see how my own rounds would shoot, and they all shot great! I can definitely do better, but this brought me to another entire level when it comes to my hobby of firearms! It's a lot of fun and have great results already - and I'm expecting only to improve! And this is with an AR semi-auto. Can't wait to see what happens when I shoot with my bolt action 243 and 6.5 Creedmoor! (once I save up for those dies!)

I also got good grouping with my Nosler Match and Hornady Am Gunner, but not as consistent as my hand loads.

BTW, I really love the Lee Classic Turret - great price, great customer support, easy to use and I'm very pleased with the final products so far.

And since this thread was comparing my Monster Group Barrel to my BCA, my Monster is now my favorite Grendel barrel! But will go out next time with the BCA nitride and see how it does.

Glad you're doing so well with your initial loads. I can't begin to add up the # of people who spend days and days, coupled with literally hundreds of dollars worth of supplies chasing a decent load. Only to discover what you found on your first outing.

That load is one of the classics for the Grendel - 123 Amax/ELD/SST over 28.5 gr of 8208 XBR.

Enjoy your reloading, and always remember to stay focused while doing so.
