I'm partial to Burris' XTR Signature Rings. I love the ability to impute known and specific elevation and windage cant (up to 30moa via marked inserts) into a very rigid setup that protects the scope's tube, with no lapping requirements. They've 6 ring fasteners and two mount fasteners on each base - all socket head cap screws. Additionally, they are shipped in a wicked nice hardcase that holds the tools and unused ring inserts. With 34mm, 30mm, and 1" flavors, one can't go wrong with these versatile rings. Just my $0.03 - hth. Best of luck.

I just mounted a scope using a Warne one piece mount. It can be had in standard or QD versions. It's a solid well made mount and can be found at a decent price.

Believe it or not it’s a very solid mount, and for me the height (1.3” I think) works better than the Larue SPR. I have the SPR mount in my SPR, and for $136 it’s a no brainer, but if you don’t need qd and like me you need a cheek riser for proper head placement with most AR mounts rhe ITG is about perfect.

GrendelFanatic, I'm certain you have your problem solved, however, something I have always kept in mind with any weapon system. Match your optic and mount to the quality and price of your system. Your scope selection is a real great choice. I did not read what you selected for mounts. On that matter I feel that going with a name that has been around for many years makes sense, I have staid with Weaver rings for about 30 years. On an AR I simply got to the high mount. They give adequate clearance from the chh. All these AR "style" mounts are great but remember they are just a style and mainly for looks. Being machined from what ever one-person may foresee as a great idea to mount optics on from aluminum material and fastening it this way or that way to steady and lock your optic in place. Has already been invented so no sense in "re-inventing the wheel", just go with tried and true. All my opinion and as others you have read. I like your optic selection as I stated. I bought 2 and slapped on my AR10 and my Savage 308 bolt rifle...........good luck

Can’t speak to weaver but the AR mounts are much more than looks.
Cantilever mounts are necessary to put the optic in the correct position. To match that with rings I’d need to mount one forward of the receiver onto the handguard.

Same here. I like the design of the clamp style scope rings with just two screws. Super lite and low profile! No edges.

The major flaw in your thinking is this. When you end up with one of those rings on the handguard and can't figure out why your groups are crap. That is the reason why AR style scope mounts were invented.

I tryed the regular scope mount rings and they have never worked for me, without first adding a cantilever pic rail to so I can put the front ring out over the handguard.

So instead of having even more screws that can loosen. I just use a good quality ar scope mount like the leupold mark ar mount.

I am putting a Warne MSR mount on my 12 inch monster barrel build. Going to use a Burris 3x9x40 Fullfield E1 scope. I have a Bushnell 4500 Elite 2.5 x10 on my 16inch grendel upper, it works well but they quit making them so im gonna try the Burris.

I hate my aero precision ultralight. I like the Burris pepr I have. And even though I'll get flamed for this I don't mind the monstrum Tactical 1 piece mount I have. I have not shot the rifle with the monstrum on it much but I have had no issues so far and it's cheap. I would buy it monstrum 100 times over the aero.

I have a couple Burris pepr, one Midwest industries qd and a couple gg&g qd. I like em equally even though the gg&g costs way more.

We've had at least one forum member break 3 or 4 of those Aero mounts.

Be extremely careful with your fastener torque when installing that mount.

The emphasis is definitely on lightweight, not strength when you look at the thin areas of the rings that hook together:



I have several Aero products that I love, but I'll never own one of these mounts after seeing where they sacrificed in order to make weight.

When I recommend a scope mount, rings, or any piece of gear, it's because I've lost count of how many different options in that segment I've had personal experience with and what works vs what doesn't. It isn't because I have one and think it's cool based on that single sample size and am self-validating. It's because I want to protect people from making the same mistakes I have made or have seen others make, thereby passing the savings off to you.

I would not trust that lightweight mount to even take a bump, just based on what I've seen. It's not worth the initial appearance of saving a few dollars if you lose zero in the field, and hunting rifles tend to take a beating.

I've installed a few and really backed off the torque spec with my Wheeler FAT Wrench.

If you don't have a torque wrench, I highly recommend them, especially if you're looking for the most accuracy from your rifles.

Okay, I found this thread about a month too late. I was looking for light weight and I wound up getting two of the Aeros (1" and 30mm). Let's say I can send them back, could you recommend a different lightweight mount, maybe a set of rings instead?

Nightforce has strong (7075 aluminium) but light mounts. Don't get their steel rings.
