Didn’t know what I was missing till I moved to Florida and started shooting with rednecks.We may have lost our 850 yard range because the county put a road through it but we still have a redneck action range ,which I call the redneck junkyard. We’ve got shopping carts signs kids toys,50 gallon drums,you name it,the guys I shoot with drive around collecting stuff to shoot at.Must say,it is much more fun than shooting at a paper target.

So time to update this.

Got to the range today and put the 6th shot on this brass. That's 1 shot as factory and 5 shots as a handload.

My load is 27.8 grains of ar-comp,cci450 primer,123eldm slinging out the CZ at over 2600fps.

Just got the cases resized and primed and ready for loading, here is my thoughts.

Let's start with the primer pockets. After 5 loadings the primer pockets are still just as tight as they were when I loaded them the first time.

The case body and neck. I can't say if PPU changed the metallurgy are if they just thickend the case but whatever they did. This brass is super tuff, like lapua grendel brass tuff. I have measured each and every case at the web and neck length after each firing to track the stretching and this brass just simply doesn't grow.

My load is for a bolt action and I'm sure is over sammi max and probably a bit warm for the ar action but this brass doesn't show pressure signs at all. It takes all the abuse and ask's for more with a smile.

Loaded rounds necks come in at 288, when it was factory it was 288 as well.

Flash hole on my brass is drilled out and not stamped are punched out.

At this time if PPU was offering this brass as a loading component I would stack it deep and get rid of all my hornady brass.

At the price I payed per box of ammo, I'm inclined too stack the factory ammo deep just so I can have the brass for reloading.

I will get some pics up when I can but I will go on record. PPU got this ammo and brass right. And we should be shooting the crap out of this stuff.

No anneal and I trimmed after the first fireing and the cases still measure no more then 3 thousands over my trim length.

Do I remember correctly the old PPU brass used large rifle primers? Seeing you are using CCI 450s with this brass that tells me the new cases use Small Rifle Primers. The more brass between the primer and the edge of the case should help the primer pocket grow at a slower pace

Numbers and groups are already up look for my cz grendel thread. I'm almost positive I updated it with my finished load data and some pics if 600 yards groups.

Their primer pockets loosen up to fast for my taste, compared to this new PPU brass.

I can live with a minor few less kernels of powder for brass that's stronger.

I from day one have never liked hornady's brass anyways.
