Received my Ruger American Predator today

Maybe not the place but everyone in here seems to be quite knowledgeable about things. I also have a Predator in the 300 blackout. Put another Magpul stock on it and the magazine doesn’t hold the 300 blackout bullets. Anyone know what mag with work for this?

Swap out trigger spring with a lighter one and trigger is even better. Bought one on eBay for ten bucks works great

I just ordered a Boyds At-One stock for the Ruger American Predator.
Boyds confirmed to me that their stock (AR Mag type) will take the AR15 6.5 Grendel mags.

Should be picking up my Predator on Friday...Already have a scope and rings at the house. It will be a good 'cousin" to the AR I have.

I just got a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor. I had initially paired it with a sub par scope, just to see if I could use it - no go.
I replaced the garbage scope with a decent 16x Primary Arms and sighted in today. The rifle, despite that cheesy excuse of a stock is sub MOA.
I wish the barrel was heavier, but its not even needed. For the money this rifle seems like a complete steal. The stock HAS to go though.

I'm slowly figuring out what the RAP needs done to it to be a good-shooting rifle (well, at least for me!), so I've ordered a Grendel now.
My 243 and the 6 Creed both shoot way better than I do. Took the 243 out for a proof-test just before my hunting trip, 2 shots dead center at 100 yds. 3/4 in the 10 ring and 1 at the 9. Now to get my new Grrr to do that!

Be careful to check with MDT, the MDT I have (for 243 RAP) uses an AI style mag, and I bet that's std for the RAP in the MDT.
Does well for my 243, but AI for Grrrr, maybe need the 223-AICS mag and have to tweak it, I don't know.
MDT answers inquiries well so I'd ask them about it.

Just received my RAP 6.5G - I also bought the Boyds AT-One Thumbhole which take AR15 6.5G mags. Now I'll put the V3 Pillons and perhaps bedding (@gunsmith).

A question for you guys that ordered the Boyds at One. If I put a bull barrel on it, would there be sufficient wood left after relieving it to accommodate the heavy barrel ?

I put a MagPul on mine. A little heavy for hunting @ 10 pounds but the platform is great. I have shot it on targets out to 1000. Very comfortable. I agree: The Ruger American Predator is a steal...~Riuma

Which Compensator(s) would you recommend?

I have heard someone makes mags that go to 2.300. Those are what I seek.

I received mine as well and have an Boys AT-One stock. I am putting VW meta; Pillons in.
Should I have the stock glass bed?

I would honestly hold off all mods once you get things set up with what you already have and start your barrel break in. (Just start shooting it)!
You may find that you have a very sweet shooter without going any farther on the mods and depleting your wallet needlessly. Get some shots down-range during the barrel break in and find some factory or reloads that look promising and keep track of how they shoot recording results for POA shrinkage after each range session. If after 200 rounds you aren't pleased with the results, then you could glass bed. No sense over-doing it for no gain or worse, a lose of accuracy.

Just got mine out yesterday....I got it sighted in at 50 yards all the longer the range was. 7 rounds and on target....shot 8-9-10 are in the photo....Not bad for only 10 rounds down the barrel.[ATTACH=CONFIG]15043[/ATTACH]

Found a deal at MDT for their LSS-xl gen 2 chassis ( a factory 2d) for my RAP, this one for the 6.5 Gr has the AR magwell.
When it arrived it was the AI magwell, so I called them. They were quite helpful and arranged for a swap:
didn't have the AR-style in stock as the factory second (like the one I ordered)... but offered to swap me a good one for the 2d, to get the AR magwell right. So it's in the mail as we speak.

Meantime I'm fiddling with the AR well in the Predator's plastic stock rifle, having some trouble getting it to feed reliably. I got some of the Duramags, still having issues. Some of the first rounds seem to feed but I have to sort-of "double-clutch" the final one to feed. Trying Hornady AG and Black Eldm's. The Black feed better but still...
Obviously I'm hopeful the chassis won't have these problems.

Went to the gun club today w/ a buddy.He came by without notice,so I grabbed a rifle,my bag and ammo box.Unfortunately,I grabbed my .223 w/Grendel ammo.My buddy laughed and let me use his Ruger RAP.It is stock,other that The gamma 65 /brake.
I put 100 rds of my Hornady 123gn ELDM w27.3gn H335 hand loads through it.It actually liked them! It shot 3/4” groups all day.I am a little upset,because I did not want to like this rifle.I do not need another rifle.But,since when has need ever mattered?
I am thinking I will eventually get a RAP.I like everything about it except the stock.It is a bit flimsy.I would probably go with the MDT Chassis system.The one gray fox is getting.

At first I thought I wanted to replace the stock on my RAP. After superb accuracy results I am hesitant to change anything.
The flex in the stock may just be a Jedi mind trick to get you to buy an expensive replacement!
