I used the ASC 5 round magazines in mine. It likes these as opposed to the C prod factory ten rounders. While you have the action off, adjust the trigger to your liking. (see the manual).
Break the barrel in as you would any rifle.
And last but not least, make sure the barrel is free-floating before and when it's heated up. Just run a paper under it at the range with the barrel hot and make sure it is not binding that paper anywhere. If it is, use a dremel tool to take some of the plastic away from the barrel usually at the end of the forearm.

To the OC: Breaking in a new bolt rifle by throwing that many rounds down the pipe isn't what I would do. (my opinion and please don't take offense). You don't want to super heat up that new barrel and what I do, and there are thousands of interpretations, is shoot one shot, clean, shoot one shot and clean, and once more with one shot and clean. Then do three shot groups cleaning after each group. After three to five "3" groups I start throwing more down the barrel between cleanings. Many will say it's total BS. Just as many will say you must do it. It's always up to the owner but I have had more luck doing it than not.
My RAP was factory set north of 4lbs trigger pull with some creep. It's now down to just above 2 lbs which to me is very good for some target and it's intended purpose which is hunting. If you find you hit your "best I can get" with the rifle, you may want to dial that trigger down some.

My 16” .300bo RAR feels much lighter than my 6.5g RAP. The only difference should be the barrel which isn’t much on paper but the light stock does make it feel nose heavy. But that just may be me, to me an ounce forward of my left hand feels like a pound overall. With ARs I try to keep it light on the barrel, muzzle device & handguard but don’t worry about weight behind that.
