LOL - "the hate" is a commonly-used colloqialism.
Hmm. Aren't "commonly-used" and "widespread use" synonymous?

Sort of - depends on your lens. I see a living language evolving so I mean commonly-used to convey a sense of normalcy, whereas I'm guessing you see the unwanted distortion of an established definition so your widespread use is pointing out an unacceptable level of occurrences. It's only mis-use until it isn't...

Anyway, kinda in the weeds now so I'll leave it at that.

I think the reason you can't find 6.5 grendel ammo on the shelves is it was primarily designed for the AR15 platform. At least that was the feeling I got when looking in some of the big box stores and asking about it, was told we don't sell AR's, told them I wasn't looking for AR looking for ammo. I think the liberal CEO's have taken it on themselves to make it obscure. 5.56 or 223 are chambered in other platforms so as not to be so demonized.

The hole in this theory is that the premise doesn't address the discrepancy between 6.5 and 6.8 availability. Both are primarily AR15 cartridges.
If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

Agreed plus 223/556 was a ar15/m16 developed round at first as well.

Bolt actions came later just like the grendel.

I think it's more of lack of knowledge and lack of marketing and many factors and just plan old ignorance.

My area it took me 2 years too get a few guys to shoot and test for themself the grendel and almost that long to get a shop to stock ammo for it.

Now there are several guys that shoot grendel here but sadly the only two shops that stocked ammo for it are closing their doors first of the year.

The only other place won't stock ammo or rifles in it because the owner shoots 6.8 and thinks grendel is a joke, his words.

He hates the grendel so much he won't even let grendel anything be custom ordered through his shop.

I have my "favorite" and "preferred" cartridges, but I don't think that I "hate" or even dislike any of them. They all seem to work and serve a purpose. In my view, they are all better than a sharp stick when it comes to hunting wild game. That kind of sentiment is usually tied to emotion with a lack of reasoning.

Agreed, I too have other calibers to play with even one of the biggest and baddest you could choose.

But yet the lil grendel is my fav, it simple fills all my needs too a T, I'm not overly worried what others think of it or what they shot and I don't push my fav on others.

But this dude well let's just say he is specieal, more then once I have seen him pimp a 270 as a good child's deer rifle.

But sadly his attitude towards the grendel is what it is, his lose I'm sure.

As far as the guy's remarks in the vid and reason of this thread, I really have no clue who he is but my thoughts are still the same, he doesn't like the grendel that's his problem not mine.

Yeah, I don't care if Ian dislikes 6.5 Grendel. I enjoy his videos, especially the themed 2-Gun matches, like this one wherein he runs the course with a Chauchat LMG.

Stan:

That was embarrassing. 'Needs Training' is an understatement. Couldn't watch the whole thing. Agonizing is all I can say.

Every one of their 2-Gun matches I've watched where they used rifles, I've always thought how much they would appreciate the 6.5 Grendel.

I've had that in the back of my mind for years, which makes his statements all the more odd.

They're younger guys who basically do a combination of mil surplus LARPing and more modern competitions as well, but don't appear to have much formal training or skills that have become relatively common in the active shooting community.

Heh, heh. Well, I don't watch them for their shooting skills. I just like seeing the various military weapons being used, instead of the tricked-out AR15's that are standard fare in action matches.

Heck, until this video, I'd never even seen a Chauchat other than in photographs.

Well Ian and Karl, they show us how citizen-militiamen without formal military training would move and shoot in gunfights, Ian representing the clumsy gun nerd on one end of the spectrum and Karl, the somewhat athletic, class trained, competition shooter on the other.
