I have four silent springs in AR rifles that I own, in nearly every caliber - including Grendel.
I bought the silent spring "tuners" spring pack from JP when the recoil seemed higher than normal on a AR-10 in .308. This rifle and and silent spring had roughly 1400 rounds on it.
The stiffest spring in the spring pack was in fact the same color as the one that came on the Silent Spring originally. When I compared the two like springs, the old original spring was much (inches) shorter than the replacement spring of the same color.
I put in the new spring in the rifle, and marked the old one as "Do not use" because it is definitely worn out. Rifle worked great with new spring installed.
Bottom line:
1. Spring pack is expensive, and does not have any springs stiffer that what you get when you buys the SS assembly.
2. The silent springs themselves are tiny compared to original design AR buffer springs and they do fatigue and weaken during use.
3. If you have the nerve to change springs on the SS assembly, it requires torch heat on the special captured washer screw - to melt the loctite used at assembly. It is very easy to strip out the screw. This little screw is very special, and cannot be purchased just anywhere. Be careful.
