I know that the 6.8mm barrel blanks used by AR Performance are custom rifled with buttons supplied by AR Performance. I think that the same is true for its .264 and .308 barrels. This pretty much means that the barrel manufacturer has to stop production, retool with the supplied buttons, make a relatively small batch of custom barrels, then retool before going back in normal production. I suspect that the batch of .264 barrel blanks is much smaller than that of the 270's. My guess is that the barrel maker has decided that the smaller batch of barrel blanks is not worth the effort. The same would go for custom .308 barrel blanks.
The earlier info made no sense to me until I read the whole thread. Here is another post from the same 68forums thread quoted above:
