I got to the range today with the new Grendel upper in order to do barrel break in per Krieger's instructions. The procedure calls for 5 rounds with cleaning between rounds. Next is 3 rounds then another cleaning and finally 5 rounds and cleaning. For the last 5 I actually shot 6 as I wanted to foul the barrel before the last 5 shots. The attached target is the results of the last 5 shots which is round 9-14. The ammo was Hornady factory ammo which I wanted to try as a base line before I started handloading. The distance was 100 yards with 4-5 mph of wind. I measured the group with On Target PC software which showed the group size of .491". Needless to say, I am happy with the result. This is the second upper I have built. Looking forward to load development. I have 3 types of bullets on hand to start with. 123 gr. A-MAX, 123 gr. Scenar's and 120 gr. Sierra MatchKing's.
