Some of the municipal LE (city police) may have anti 2A sentiments. Austin, San Antonio, Houston and Dallas come to mind. Add Temple (too close to Austin). The rest are pretty supportive of 2A.
I think the "big city" police departments end up anti 2A because they are appointed officials and most of the big cities are liberal leaning. Sheriffs are elected officials and tend to follow the majority of their constituency.
If you have a CHL in Texas, you get to skip the search line and can conceal carry in the state capitol...
I was referring to the incident where the guy was disarmed and detained, had his AR15 confiscated, while out working with his son on a merit badge. There is also a lot of the small town mentality among many of the LE in TX, but I have seen that everywhere from sea to shining sea. A lot of those guys couldn't care to spell Constitution, because it is meaningless to them. There's a particular county I'm thinking of in Utah that is this way too. I know the former sheriff, who spent much of his time taking the prostitutes to the local doctor to make sure they were free of STD's. His story in and of itself is a shocker best left for an offline discussion because I don't want to air dirty laundry, but let's just say that it is one of the worst I have heard.
Same with my buddy who was a retired SF officer that went to work for Harnett County in NC. Totally corrupt. He went to the narcotics unit and started working his informant network, and eventually discovered the Sheriff was sanctioning certain marijuana growers and drug smugglers. They moved him to regular patrol/traffic shortly after, so he quit and started doing contract work.
The 2A is just a piece of paper. If we don't have moral people upholding the foundational principles of the Nation, it doesn't matter what our governing documents say-they will be eroded and trampled by the likes of crooked Sheriff's, Police Chiefs, DA's, Congressrats, and Presidents, who attract and hire more criminals into positions of power.
