Wasn't sure about Alabama. I can't recall what the laws were in GA or NC when I was in those states but something tells me that twenty plus years ago, you had a real hard time getting a CCP in most Southern states and their laws were very strict about where you could carry the firearm and if you could have it loaded. It was easier for me to get a CCP in Mass than it was in any of the Southern states at that time.
I also carry a Colt Combat Commander that is a bit smaller than a full up 1911. Sometimes a Model 13 M&P with a 3" bbl. Most of the time it is a 1911, though.
