Without getting too deep into psycho-babble, by the use of neurolinguistics and imagery the media has been very effective in attacking the RKBA. Montana spotlighted a salient example, the RKBA-patriot-Neanderthal-civil war conjunction. Words are very important in framing the debate. You cannot win a debate about "cop killer bullets" and "assault weapons."
We should frame the debate with "affordable guns," "anti-self-defense lobby," "victim disarmament is not a policy that saves lives," "Goldilocks gun bans—some guns are 'too big,' some guns are 'too small,' but no gun is 'just right' for the anti-self-defense lobby," etc.
