When the cartels come through your neighborhoods, you're going to want more than a .224-bore service-style carbine fed by 30rd mags, that I can assure you.

Of course, you're going to want more than that when the store shelves go empty, and you realize you and your family are about to starve.

I've seen what people are willing to do for food, when in competition with others for it. Heck, I've seen what it made me do as I was helping my brothers prepare it, and I was highly-disciplined, among tight-knit friendlies armed with M4A1's, M203's, Para-SAW's, and M240's.

This is a time, more than ever, when we need to stick together. Nobody will make it alone. The logistics don't support it, no matter how you try to slice it.

I really don't have a problem with having the SAWs and M240's...I agree with Variable that the 1986 FOPA prohibition on machine guns is BS and should be challenged/thrown out/repealed.

My primary point is there shouldn't be any tax stamp required for those items "in common use"...and I'm not opposed to tossing out the entire NFA. The Supreme Court said that those firearms not "in common use" COULD be regulated...not that they have to be regulated.

I live on 2.5 acres. Not enough to be self sufficient. About to start raising some critters as well. The challenge could become defending our resources from raiders and/or "neighbors". But there are a large number of 25+ acre areas around us, so we wouldn't be the primary target.
