I made the connection because you used the crackpot as justification that not everything "in common use" should be available. This is the same tactic that libtards use to try to make points...using ridiculous comparisons. Sort of like "are you still beating your wife?"
If you didn't mean/intend to compare Hassad with the crackpot, then why bring it up at all? After all, this is a thread about Hassad being charged with 5 ridiculous felony counts.

I in no way believe all military personnel "walk on water" or are innocent...nor do I believe that of my kids. However, given what has been reported in various "blogs", no ammunition or weapons were found in addition to the magazines, and he doesn't appear to be charged with anything else. As to whether he was randomly pulled over in violation of 4A, or had some traffic law infringement remains to be seen.
Regardless, I'd like to see the capacity ban thrown out. I do think there is a chance such bans can be found unconstitutional with the current make-up of SCOTUS...

OK -- I was not trying to compare the two individuals as individuals. I was making a statement about limits on what a citizen should be allowed to buy and used the nut job as an example of a bad citizen who probably didn't need access to automatic weapons or explosive devices.
Now that is out of the way -- and simply out of curiosity -- without being too direct, too confrontational, too leftist, too radical right, too conspiratorial, etc, etc.
You said that the average citizen should be able to have the 'firearms' commonly available to the military. 'Firearms' is specific. 'Commonly' and 'military' are too vague.
So, maybe we can list the firearms common to the military and you can tell us which ones should be allowed for the public given current laws,and which shouldn't be allowed. I did not include the firearms that are already legal without a Class III such as the M-9, M-24, M-40, M-110, Barrett.
M-4 W/ 3 round burst.
M-4 with automatic capability.
M-240 with variants.
SAW with variants.
All of the above are allowed for the public given a Class III. None without a Class III. So, which of these should be allowed given a simple police check? Or, should the licensing requirements for automatic weapons be dropped and they be allowed for open sale to the public?
