I'd like to see the obtuse magazine capacity ban lifted everywhere...and I fully support the ability for law abiding citizens to own those firearms available to light infantry and "in common use", for legal purposes of course. Not every soldier carries AT weapons, claymores, AAA, 500 lb bombs, etc.
Edit: Your comparison to the AL nut job really bothers me. This guy in AL was another crack pot who should have been arrested/adjudicated as not being able to own/possess firearms. There had been numerous complaints against him and IMHO local law enforcement blew it (just like Jared Loughner).

So, let me revert back to my confrontational form of expressing myself.
How you determined I was comparing the paranoid prepper conspiracy nut job in Alabama with this guy in NY is not only amazing but unfortunately all too common when it comes to debates over the 2d Amendment. Way too emotionally involved and tying the two together is an example.
Also, I doubt we know the full story about the former GI. And, just because a guy is in the service or was, doesn't mean 'doo-doo' when it comes to their character. Having been in the service and working at a WTP doesn't mean a fellow or fellowette is automatically clean.
I could care less how many rounds of ammo a magazine holds. However, I doubt such bans will be found unconstitutional. No matter what you or I think.
