I'm surprised you took a shot at a deer at 300M with the 6.8SPC. That round drops below 1000 ft lbs of energy at only 225 yards with factory loads. The 6.5 Grendel maintains 1000 ft lbs of energy out to about 400 yards.
I plan to be hunting hogs this coming spring with 2 of my 6.5 Grendels and 1 458 Socom.
