You can load the 6.8 with 110gr bullets and get 2800fps out of a 16" barrel without flattening primers if you know the load data and use the right equipt.

My handloads with the 110AB in a 16 inch with AA2200 are going ~2740(new lb of AA2200 is slower) fps(summertime #s), I have no pressure signs, but stopped load dev. there, mainly due to the rifle shooting tiny groups there. In my 20 inch tube I'm at 2840 fps in the summertime heat with the AB. As I increase the powder charge, my fps is flattening out, another powder will be needed to go higher, so I'm waiting for more of the new high energy powders to come out.

Please let me know what powder your using for your 2800fps 110gr load. I suspect I could get 2800 fps from 110 HPBTs from Hornady, I've got higher #s from them before.

The 6.8 does have the 120 SST, I like the higher velocity of the 110 AB, and I like bonded bullets for hunting, both are good for the 6.8.

On the lbc front, my barrel is an 18 inch version, lately I'm thinking I'd like another one, light weight in the 20 to 21 inch range, I'd like another 100 fps with the 130 Scirrocos, and maybe more with the 123 Amax Hornady load. The 108 Scenars would scream faster as well.

This hunting season, the 6.8s and 264lbc will go hunting, I'll probably use the 264, and the kids will have the 6.8s, if I laze a deer at 226 yards, my kids will fill their tag.

As the above poster, the 6.8 didn't work out, maybe it was a spec I, using ammo for it, I'd be pissed too. I'm a late comer to the 6.8, and was lucky to get into the game after I found out about SSA ammo and ARP barrels. Also having a G and not a 6.8, no handicap there for hunting(just use a good expanding and penetrating bullet, this is more important then a ft/lb ceiling), and vice verse.

My reason to gravitate to the 264lbs, the Hornady 123 Amax load, it's not really cheap at $1.00 a round, but I think it's a great value, AND I like to shoot steel at long ranges, in the AR15 platform, it's a great fit. After seeing Bwild's work with CFE223 and the 130 gr bullets, finding a good load with a 130 gr Bonded bullet was just Icing on the cake for me!!!!!!!!!!! Big thanks Bwild and the 6.5 forum.

As a young hunter(buck fever, youthful exuberance, etc), if I saw a buck walking away from me, at my fathers displeasure, I would take the shot, and the Weatherby's always anchored them, lol American HP. I relate these stories to my Kids, they have less powerful rifles, but they have 20x the trigger time as I had as a kid. Our generation of Bullets is also nicer then 25 years ago.
