My experience with the 6.8 SPC is owning, and then being totally disappointed with the over-hyped/under performing round, leading to the sale of the upper to someone who bought into the false advertising.
The only way to get the 6.8 SPC to really perform is to load it up to pressures that flatten primers due to excess pressures. The bullets are about as aerodynamic as a 1970's Volvo sedan and while its an excellent short and modest range round, I stand by what I've illustrated several times, that is that beyond about 225 yards, with very rare exception, it simply does not retain enough energy for ethical hunting (at least 1000 ft-lbs of energy).
You can load the 6.8 with 110gr bullets and get 2800fps out of a 16" barrel without flattening primers if you know the load data and use the right equipt.
