Here is how I test the gas system. I like to take a sized case and put a spent primer in it, pull the rear take down pin and open the action, chamber the case, then I take my compressed air and give it a shot of 30 psi down the muzzle. That gives enough air to cycle the bolt and eject the case but not enough to damage your charging handle.
