More than likely you have the shoulder set back to far which if is the case you don't want it to go bang because you would have an excessive headspace condition and would be in danger of a head separation. The other possibility is that the bolt isn't going fully into battery but that should be easy to detect by comparing the position of the carrier with and without a round in the chamber. As said above try a factory round before you spend too much time on it.
