New 6.5G Build and Pierced Primers

I’ve never pierced a primer either, even with a bolt gun, and looking for the edge of the envelope!

I’ve pierced several primers in my .260 Rem gas gun, which has too generous of a firing pin aperture on the bolt.

It showed up doing load development with N540 and maybe another powder pushing 140gr-142gr.

I also tried Quick Load to get some low-end start loads with the cut-down 94gr GMXs and and blew primers, ceased firing after I saw the brass.

A guy sent me an enlarged firing pin to fill the .086” aperture on the DPMS bolt, which helped reduce the incidence of cratering.

Chamber pressure in the .260 Rem is 10,000psi + higher with 10-14gr more slower-burning powder.
