The problem with piercings is they fire-etch and sharpen the firing pin tip, which then starts piercing other ammo too. For sure, discard that firing pin; regardless of anything else. The jet can also etch open the bolt's firing pin hole, creating a gap between the pin and the bolt face big enough for the primer to start failing there too - though that takes a while.
