Understanding the insanity in the US today

If the presence of firearms in a community equals high homicide rates, then the US would be #1 in the world, but you’ll skip past us on a list of all the nations ranked by homicide rates because we’re so far down that list.

Same for the States. The presence of firearms, “relaxed" vs oppressive State firearms laws, and partisan political leanings of the State’s population are not the main determining factors in homicide rates (though there is a very dominant trend in Democrat mayor-run cities having much higher problems with crime overall, including rape and homicides).

For example, poorer Maine has one of the lowest homicide rates in the Nation. California has very high rates, but not the highest.

The Deep South along the Mississippi and the Carolinas have a lot of high homicide rate counties for some reason.




Look at the shades of red in Northern New Mexico, Eastern Arizona. Then look at the middle of nowhere in Wyoming and Montana, as well as Eastern UT.

When I first saw that map, I noted that “Nobody lives there, so how is it possible to have higher homicide rates in those counties?”

Turns out that somebody actually does live in all of those weird, remote counties with high homicide rates.



Between the demographics in the lower Mississippi region, the Carolinas, and the Indian Reservations, you start to see the real causal factors of high homicide rates.

This is never pointed out in discussions about this topic at this level. It’s either a pro or against argument about Democrat vs Republican, tight 2A violations vs relaxed violations, rich vs poor, conservative vs leftist, or CCW laws.

If someone wants to talk about crime without addressing these blatant factors, and instead blames the people living in the most peaceful, lowest crime areas for owning means of protecting themselves, the conversation is in the wrong place.
