More than just “thorny.” You don’t need a permit to worship… except for in China, but not here. You don’t need a permit to speak (yet), don’t need a permit to be free from unreasonable search and seizure, don’t need a permit to be innocent until proven guilty. One of the most important and yet obvious comments from justice Thomas is that the 2A is not a second class right… even though the left tries to treat it so.
remember Soviet Union had a “bill of rights” in its constitution, but they were all subservient to the State. So not rights after all.
