Oh my goodness or oh em gee as my 17 year old daughter would say.. I just ordered my (first <grin>) complete Grendel upper from Alexandria Arms.. My choice was the 19.5 Advanced Weapons System complete upper.. I know I give up as much as 100 fps with the shorter barrel, but my experience with bench rest has taught me to go with a 20 barrel to minimize harmonics, and that is what I did.. We will see the wisdom of my choice..
Now we have to sit and wait.. With the upper, I tried to order 400 rounds of ammo I figure since I reload, thats probably all I will need for the foreseeable future.. I didnt have a photo ID I could upload handy so the ammo order will have to wait until tomorrow when I can get one..
What is the wait time on a 19.5 AWS upper?? 4 to 6 weeks??
Its funny.. I have had a birch wood* AR 15 stock set on order since the beginning of Feb.. At that time I was told it would be about 3 weeks.. Then at the end of March, I was told it would be a week or two more..
I once waited over 2 years for some custom gun work to be performed on a custom rifle.. But when you want a good smith, sometimes you just have to wait.. {P.S. that one is a very custom 1948 Win 70 action with a BlackStar Accumax II barrel chambered for 280 AI.. It took about 1 year and lots of phone conversations before I could get Lothar-Walther (the barrel blank maker) to match the pre-64 Winchester barrel profile with the dog knot.. It is all fitted into a McMillan stock, bedded at McMillan.. It is a real shooter, but what gets me is the MV I am getting out of it.. With case forming loads and 140 grain bullets, I am getting 7mm mag velocities.. It is unbelievable..}

* The blonde wood furniture set will contrast nicely against the black Colt HBAR for which the wood set was ordered.. Personally I think it is going to look pretty sharp..
