Here is the timeline that the local sheriff gave yesterday:
Shooter shot his grandmother in the face after an argument
Shooter took her pickup and wrecked it a short distance from her house
Shooter walked to the school
Climbed a 4 foot fence and started shooting at the outside of the school. Also shot at some people across the street from the school
Found an unlocked door and went in.
No SRO was on duty. Nobody there to confront him
Went to the classroom and did his shooting
This all happened before the police arrived
Police went in and confronted the shooter and were shot at. Not sure if any of them were wounded.
Police left the building and setup a perimeter to wait on the SWAT team to arrive. This involved confrontations with parents.
Police were supposedly negotiating with the shooter during this time and did not attempt to evacuate the rest of the students.
Supposedly 2 parents went into the school and got their kids and took them out of the school safely
Border patrol agents went into the school and shot him.
In Uvalde there is a large Border Patrol office. When I was going to Del Rio to do a contract job I passed thru Uvalde and there must have been 300-400 BP suvs in that parking lot so it is a very large facility. Those guys took him out according to the sheriff.
One other thing, and this is just my opinion, but all of the shooters have ARs so shouldn't the SROs be armed with ARs? In my area the SROs only carry pistols so they would be outgunned at the start unless they got the drop on the shooter, which doesn't ever seem to happen.
