Well, guess what, Darrin, there was an SRO that indeed DID meet the shooter as he was entering the school. The shooter went right by him/her, followed by cops.

So, apparently, the school was "prepared" for an eventuality and the preparation flat out FAILED. The SRO had one job, to protect the kids, faculty, and staff and he utterly failed.
What is amazing is that the SRO (actual armed police officer) was at the back door where the shooter entered. I don't know about y'all, but I don't know of a single school that has SROs at every entrance.
While bad guys sometimes do go the other way when encountering people who are armed, giving up when they meet armed resistance, etc., that is only sometimes. Quite a few are more than willing to fight it out as this shooter was, as were the shooters at Columbine.

It stated that after encountering the SRO, the shooter went around the building and found another entry point. The SRO had notified law enforcement, but it is not like they had such an advanced video surveillance that they could keep track of a determined intruder and monitor every potential entry point. So you are saying it was the hiring, training and qualification requirements of the SRO had failed, not the fact the school having a SRO failed..

This school, being typical of a "Gun Free" zone being protected by one, apparently ill trained/unprepared person without any other type of barrier was a disaster in waiting! A $500.00 storm fence could have saved all those lives. What a waste!

But several differences between them and us.
they don't wail in self -inflicted guilt trips as to why, they understand it's an evil enemy that perpetrates.
they don't wail about so-called "gun control" - they tend to take out the offenders instead. And shoot down the suppliers (ie, money&arms-sources like hzblo-blah-- in our country think libs, soros', gates', etc etc) People do evil, if you "take away" or restrict one tool they will find another. London stabbings, Rwanda and machetes, etc, all come to mind.

The truth is we are living in a very different world than the one I grew up in..Mental illness is defined by who? Many of the people in charge of our nation, states, counties, cities, etc are suffering from mental illness IMO..Endless genders, carbon tax, free everything, abolish student loan debt, systemic racism by an evil US government, equity, college graduates who don't know their times tables or what year our nation was founded, communism is the answer, open borders, anti Christianity and morals defined by the Ten Commandments is progressive, $30 trillion + national debt, grooming kindergarten age children for deviate sexual behavior is supported by national corporations and leaders, everyone is a victim, etc, etc..Common sense is dead and emotional reaction to manipulate the ignorant masses is in, nothing more, nothing less..Where are the parents of these nut jobs that blew a gasket and why are they given a pass?? An unhinged teenager wearing body armor and carrying a semi-auto rifle and plenty of ammo was not immediately stopped by a single officer with a pistol. There is no mystery here.

Came to point this out as well. SRO let him in basically unchallenged.
On top of that, the local PD cordoned off and prevented parents from going in while they all listened to gunshots. They appeared to have tased a parent and put them on the ground.
A lot of the responding officers need to be placed on an extensive weight loss and PT program as well.
This whole incident reeks of missteps and outright seeming intent to fail at every aspect.
They also had a school shooting threat against this particular location not long ago, where Feds stated that theyre using AI to try to prevent such things.
The murderer also had mental illness issues with carving his own face up with a knife for fun, according to his friend, who distanced himself from him once he started acting crazy.
Grandparents complained of his drug use.
So many red flags.

There are reports the local militia pre-empted the assault by going in, tired of waiting. 300 hostages died on the third day including 180 kids.
In 2017 Australia MH128 was hijacked mid-air and returned to Melbourne. The lone hijacker was tackled by the passengers and cable-tied. On landing, the Police tactical responders (SOG) took two hours to decide to enter the aircraft while passengers were forced to sit in their seats with a subdued hijacker who had two taped devices with blinking lights he claimed were bombs. The police wanted to know more information and be in full control before entering the aircraft. The judge investigating later said he could not understand why they did not immediately get on that plane to empty it. He said the passengers are not 'props'. Very embarrassing and frankly incompetent - no predatory mindset.

Here is the timeline that the local sheriff gave yesterday:
Shooter shot his grandmother in the face after an argument
Shooter took her pickup and wrecked it a short distance from her house
Shooter walked to the school
Climbed a 4 foot fence and started shooting at the outside of the school. Also shot at some people across the street from the school
Found an unlocked door and went in.
No SRO was on duty. Nobody there to confront him
Went to the classroom and did his shooting
This all happened before the police arrived
Police went in and confronted the shooter and were shot at. Not sure if any of them were wounded.
Police left the building and setup a perimeter to wait on the SWAT team to arrive. This involved confrontations with parents.
Police were supposedly negotiating with the shooter during this time and did not attempt to evacuate the rest of the students.
Supposedly 2 parents went into the school and got their kids and took them out of the school safely
Border patrol agents went into the school and shot him.
In Uvalde there is a large Border Patrol office. When I was going to Del Rio to do a contract job I passed thru Uvalde and there must have been 300-400 BP suvs in that parking lot so it is a very large facility. Those guys took him out according to the sheriff.
One other thing, and this is just my opinion, but all of the shooters have ARs so shouldn't the SROs be armed with ARs? In my area the SROs only carry pistols so they would be outgunned at the start unless they got the drop on the shooter, which doesn't ever seem to happen.

I was a teacher at a school with a police officer on hand. School doors were never locked. Due to the nature of the school, students had to go outside to get to other classrooms much like on a college campus. I think I was the only pro-gun teacher there. Must be worse now. People that go into teaching are not the kind of people that would defend themselves or anyone else.
The left needs this sort of event to further their aim of disarming Americans. They will not do anything meaningful to prevent violence since they need violence to scare people into disarmament.
