It stated that after encountering the SRO, the shooter went around the building and found another entry point. The SRO had notified law enforcement, but it is not like they had such an advanced video surveillance that they could keep track of a determined intruder and monitor every potential entry point. A single SRO cannot be everywhere at once and schools are large. The shooter was a recent high school dropout and was fully aware of the limitations of a single SRO in a school building. All the shooter had to do was note where the SRO was stationed and enter through another door or window. It is not like this kid thought he would survive and had a detailed plan.
