Need scope for AR-T competition 14X max

AA Optics sell refurbished Vortex optics which still retain full lifetime no questions asked warranty. AA Optics has a 2.5-10x44 Viper which is a second focal plane scope I’d buy before I’d buy the Clearidge.

I've been using a 2.5-10X44 Viper PST for the last several years on one of my rifles. It's my favorite.

Pros: light weight, good eye box, clear enough glass, fine reticle for precise work.
Cons; fixed parallax. SFP so the reticle is only in scale at 10x

I don't shoot competition so I don't know the needs. Am I correct in assuming people aren't spending time dialing in a perfect parallax on a timed stage? I am correct in thinking 2.5 is good for close work and 10x is high enough for distance? I never spend any time in between the bottom and the top. I'm either at 2.5 or at 10 so the SFP doesn't bother me.
