Weird Scratches In New Barrel

As the scratches look to me to be spiral, I would guess a projectile did it.

Could be........just thinking out loud here. If it was a projectile, wouldn’t it follow/match the rifling? Once the bullet engages the lands, it’s like a locomotive on the tracks, until it clears the muzzle. This has a “cross hatch” pattern/appearance and jumps over the rifling. But........IDK?

It’s the “cross hatch” pattern that stumps me. Something was pulled/pushed through the barrel one way, then back the other, with the barrel spinning in the opposite direction, giving you those “X” pattern scratches.

One of the downsides of owning a Tikka, is they’re made abroad and having to deal with an importer. In this case it’s Beretta USA, another conglomerate that is seemingly more interested in selling clothes and apparel than firearms. IMO! Anyway, they said shoot it and see what happens. It tend to agree, I can always send it back if it won’t group.
