This can potentially damage our gun.
By pushing the factory bullet back into the case you reduce the case volume and might even be compressing the powder. Whether it compresses or not the pressure is going to increase and it is only a matter of by how much. If there has been some sort of crimping process at the factory by moving the bullet you compromise that as well. Factory rounds are typically loaded close to SAAMI peak pressure limits so increasing the pressure further is likely to cross that line and in an AR you are rolling the dice on breaking it.
By doing this incrementally is a false sense of security because you still have almost no idea what the pressure is.
I would find out exactly when bullets touch lands and decide whether to have it reamed or accept this and hand-load for it.
