I had the same idea using an AR10 buffer spring in my Grendel rifle (20" RLGS, un-suppressed) with a full-length Magpul stock to increase lock time & installed Tubb's flat wire spring in my AR (Tubb video said the AR10 spring would work in AR15s). Ended up taking out the AR10 spring & replaced it with Tubb's flat wire AR15 buffer spring. With the long spring, I had what might be called short strokes. Brass was ejecting (1 to 2 O'clock) but the next round wasn't always being picked up from the magazine. It looked like sometimes the bolt wasn't going far enough back to clear the magazine & allow the next round to be picked up (Factory ammo).
That was all before the pandemic. I haven't been to the range since then to see how the Tubb AR15 buffer spring works. I have also changed my gas block to an adjustable block (SLR). I have no idea when I'll be able to shoot again. The range I shoot on is open again but my cataracts gave me fits the last time I was able to shoot. I have cataract surgery scheduled on 12/29 for my right eye & 01/11 for the left. Maybe by February I can shoot again.
