For evaluating, I usually am using a 3" diameter circle target, splatter-burst, with rings at 1/2, 1", and 1.5" radii. The center is 1/4" radius (1/2" dia) red dot.
So inside the 1" circle= 10, inside the 2"=9, inside the 3"= 8. And inside the 1/2" red dot = X. Add up the 3 shots, for me I like to see a score of at least 27=28.
If the bullet radius (punched-paper) is touching the ring/on boundary give it the higher score. If it's just the splash then it stays in the outer region.
I don't get 30 a lot but can do a lot of 28's, 27's. If it's less than 27 then either I've goofed or the load doesn't work as it should
I use 3 shots b/c in hunting I'm likely to get at least 2, so I go one more.
In case of a "tie" then count if there are any X's.
