I currently live in Montgomery county, northwest of Houston. I still do hunt National Forest land (Sam Houston) but this year I'm going to sit out hunting it. I have access to property up around Huntsville I am going to hunt. Private land will be so much more of a relaxed hunt compared to public.
I do also reload and shoot the 6.5 creedmor, 308 and 300 blackout. I can't find a need for the 300 BO but thought I could use it. I recently sold my m400 (had no more use for it) but still do have a 223 AR pistol that I use with a 22LR conversion. My grandkids like to shoot it and its good for varmints if I need it.
I have a rugged razor suppressor I exchange back and forth between each of these so I basically only shoot suppressed which has made my shooting experience much more pleasant.
My passion is with the Grendel, it is what got me into reloading which completes the whole shooting experience for me.
My Grendel life started several years back when I lost a nice buck in the national forest using the 5.56. I researched and decided on the Grendel and ended up purchasing a 16" barrel from a local gun show and built it up. Hunted with it one year then built a 12.7" Faxon barrel pistol that I currently hunt with today. I built the 12.7 to help offset some the load when hunting the national forest. I also have an 18" Odin Works DMR barrel that is a joy to shoot. My 12.7" get's most of my attention however.
