Thanks for adding me to the group. I have a lot to learn and it appears there is plenty of good info on this forum.
I'm new to the AR platform as well as the 6.5 Grendel. I don't have the rifle completed as of now but getting close. I do have an Aero Precision lower. I have a LaRue 18" 6.5 Grendel Ultimate upper ordered. Also have a Leupold 3.5 x 10 50mm scope with LaRue mount for it. I'm hoping the LaRue upper is shipped soon. My first AR was a Sig M400 .223/5.56, which I plan on giving to my son next month.
Also, working towards getting into reloading. I have a Dillon XL 750 but don't have it set up yet, several reasons, one of which is lack of primer availability.

Welcome to the clan, G54, from another loyal Texian! Where 'bouts in E. Tx are you? There are a whole mess of us around the greater DFW area ( mostly on the north side ). You are off to a good start, tell us about your goals and. be warned, the Grendel is a prolific breeder. Left alone for even short periods of time, there will soon be another and then they propogate on a log scale.

Thanks. Just a short boat ride and I'd be in Louisiana. I live near Hemphill, south end of Toledo Bend Lake. Yep, all of a sudden I have this itch to buy guns and stuff.
Just ordered a new Browning SA 22 and looking to get something else. May be it's due to old age but who knows.

Welcome Glen. We share a similar path. I have spent considerable time in East Texas. Hunted Sabine National Forest in my younger days. It's a tough place to hunt but very rewarding if you are willing to put the effort in. My parents lived in Pineland which opened the opportunity up spend a lot of quality time there.
I too started my AR life with an M400, mainly used it for pigs. I quickly discovered how much I liked the platform but needed something with a little more capability than the 5.56. That is how I found the Grendel and this forum.
You are on the right path, there is no other forum like it. Its the people that make it happen, the information that is available and the support you have at your finger tips that will allow you to accelerate your Grendel experience. You can be assured the Grendel will do anything you need it to do in East Texas. You made an awesome choice!

Lots of similarities for sure. I'm anxious to learn as much from this forum as I can. What part of Texas do you live in now? Are you shooting anything other than the 6.5 Grendel and 556?

I currently live in Montgomery county, northwest of Houston. I still do hunt National Forest land (Sam Houston) but this year I'm going to sit out hunting it. I have access to property up around Huntsville I am going to hunt. Private land will be so much more of a relaxed hunt compared to public.
I do also reload and shoot the 6.5 creedmor, 308 and 300 blackout. I can't find a need for the 300 BO but thought I could use it. I recently sold my m400 (had no more use for it) but still do have a 223 AR pistol that I use with a 22LR conversion. My grandkids like to shoot it and its good for varmints if I need it.
I have a rugged razor suppressor I exchange back and forth between each of these so I basically only shoot suppressed which has made my shooting experience much more pleasant.
My passion is with the Grendel, it is what got me into reloading which completes the whole shooting experience for me.
My Grendel life started several years back when I lost a nice buck in the national forest using the 5.56. I researched and decided on the Grendel and ended up purchasing a 16" barrel from a local gun show and built it up. Hunted with it one year then built a 12.7" Faxon barrel pistol that I currently hunt with today. I built the 12.7 to help offset some the load when hunting the national forest. I also have an 18" Odin Works DMR barrel that is a joy to shoot. My 12.7" get's most of my attention however.
