Mel, you may or may not get the significant increases in MV with a 28" barrel on your bolt rifle. The increase in the barrel length still acts as additional chamber area before the bullet exits the muzzle. Your gas pressures are diminishing after that initial spike. I would guess you hit a point of diminished returns though it may or may not be at that barrel length. It may also increase your chamber pressures too. Just be careful out there!

Just thinking............with a Magnetospeed at the end of a 28" barrel, from a distance, people will think you're a civil war reenactor!

the original plan was to do some testing with a cheap barrel and then spend the money on a good one but nothing cheap past 24" anyways , but i have seen ppls velocity results that have 28's and its looking pretty good so im not to worried about spending the money
if i have to i can always cut the barrel down and rethread it myself to say 26 inch
