perhaps another reason for using an adequate hammer on animals? DNS is a good enough marksman that he can make CNS hits. for the rest of us? maybe a bit bigger hammer if going for chest shot??? it's not the 90% success rate that concerns me with marginal calibers. it's the 10% failure rate. everyone brags on making a DRT kill with little calibers at long ranges. wonder how many hits were made with unrecoverable game before one manages to bring one game animal down?? in other parts of the world, if you take the shot, you pay the fee. whether or not you recover the animal. as DNS shows by example, shot placement is key with ANY caliber. so for some the 6.5 Grendel is NOT marginal, for others it might be. right now, for me, it's a moot point as we're all under lock down. i won't be hunting soon. at least until stuff starts to open back up. just some thoughts. and of course you're free to disagree.
