Why Bother with Short Barrels?

Personally the only reason I would want a short barrel AR is for special purpose such as clearing buildings in a SWAT situation. Also might work well if all you are doing is hunting in thick brush / cover all the time. Otherwise it is 20" Heavy Barrel all the way for me in my 5.56 and 6.5 G.

Clearing buildings isn’t really a special purpose, it and other combat tasks are the raison d'être of the platform.
18” is the longest I really like. Starting to really like 16” for 5.56/6.5G.
I won’t go shorter only because I refuse to ask the Kings men for permission to do so.
