My thought is, though I hunt with a 20" AR and 22" bolt gun in Grendel, a 16" barrel in dense brush and small saplings when doing drives or just moving from point A to B gives any gun greater mobility and less weight in our Eastern and Southeastern woods. If I'm varmint hunting in fields, yea.......I would rather have more barrel than 16" but it would still do the job out to 300 yards if the shooter does theirs. Where you hunt and shoot and where I hunt and shoot are worlds a part. I love your area and real elevated mountain areas but overall in the US, the terrain dictates appropriate barrel length and to a large degree the caliber you are holding. That is a great looking rig!
