For prairie dogs, where getting right back on target might help, having a brake is probably useful. I'd simply buy a good brake, like the WCI brake that Alexander Arms carries, and have the barrel threaded. Then, if you are shooting somewhere that they are not allowed, you can unscrew it and shoot bare.
