6.5 Grendel is primarily a threat to the people who have invested a substantial amount of money in 6.5 Grendel.
Admittedly, Ian was answering a question about whether 6.5 Grendel was the death of .308. I guess he approaches the question from a broad historical perspective that has seen dozens of calibers and cartridges disappear off the face of the earth. Still, given his interest in oddball guns and loadings, I was a bit surprised how dismissive he was.
