Thanks, 1Shot! I'm kinda disappointed that there may be no reduction in recoil. But like you infer, maybe it won't be a big deal anyway. The muzzle blast is a bigger issue for me! I'm crippled from polio that I had as a kid, and have to shoot from my off-road golf cart. And depending on the gun, the blast from underneath the top can be earth-shattering, although hearing protection works for my ears, LOL.
By the way, I also asked Kaw Valley through their website this morning. But since I wanted to install the comp today, I later decided to also ask around in the forum. Kaw Valley replied awhile ago, saying pretty much the same thing that you did - it's not necessary but optional. Impressive that they reply to customers that quickly, even on Sunday!
